Tonight’s UFC on Fox 19 card has been decimated, but it’s still worth a watch.
The original headliner was supposed to be Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson, but Tony got hurt and had to pull out of the fight. Then Lyoto Machida vs. Dan Henderson was bumped up to become the main event, but Lyoto admitted to taking a banned substance and that fight was scrapped. Now Glover Teixeira vs. Rashad Evans is the main event.
In the co-main slot, we have Rose Namajunas vs. Tecia Torres, Khabib Nurmagomedov will be returning after a two-year layoff to fight Darrell Horcher– a UFC newcomer–and Hacran Dias vs. Cub Swanson rounds out the main card. Other fights of note include Michael Chiesa vs. Beneil Dariush, Bethe Correia vs. Raquel Pennington, Court McGee vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio, and John Dodson vs. Manny Gamburyan.
If you’re a cable cutter like me and you want to watch the fights tonight, connect an old pair of rabbit ears to your television and see if you can pick up a nearby Fox affiliate. Both the preliminary fights and the main card will be available via an over-the-air television antenna for free. This isn’t a viable option for everyone, but for many, this is a free (or affordable) way to watch tonight’s fights.
If you’re like me and you can’t use an OTA antenna but you have a Fight Pass subscription, you’ll want to look at Unlocator. You’ve probably noticed that Fight Pass will black out live fights from streaming on Fight Pass, but using the Unlocator DNS service will “unlock” the fights and allow you to stream the prelims and main card live through Fight Pass. There’s a complicated explanation on why this is, and it involves television deals and regional restrictions. Just know that if you’ve seen that “blacked out” message in the past, Unlocator bypasses that and let’s you stream the fights live. Unlocator can be configured in minutes, works on a variety of devices, and is available with a seven-day free trial, so tonight’s a good time to try out the service for free!
Tonight’s fights start early at 4 PM ET with four fights on UFC Fight Pass, followed by four televised preliminary fights at 6 PM ET, and finally, there are an additional four fights on the main card at 8 PM ET.
There’s been no talk about a UFC on Fox 19: Teixeira vs. Evans fight companion podcast tonight, but it’s safe to assume there won’t be one since Joe will be working the fights. Brendan Schaub has done a fight companion podcast without Joe in the past, but I doubt that will happen tonight. I will let you know if this changes.
