Topics Discussed: Weight cutting; Chris Leben; Forrest Griffin; head trauma; bro science; PEDs (performance enhancing drugs); fighting in Japan; Vitor Belfort; testosterone; how Mike Dolce got started; motivation; how Mike Dolce works with fighters; Charles Oliviera; Nik Lentz; Thiago Silva weight cut; BJ Penn; would heavyweights be better if they were lighter; varying training of the fighter; Johny Hendricks; fighting retirement; managers; fighter pay; UFC’s monopoly; fighter branding; Jon Jones and racism; fan hate; Anthony “Rumble” Johnson; Renan Barao; weighing in; best protein; vegan proteins.
My Thoughts: I like Mike Dolce and can appreciate his enthusiasm, though he can be condescending towards those who don’t lead healthy lifestyles. It shouldn’t matter to him what other people want to eat or drink, but I’ve heard him on his podcast calling people fat pigs, etc. and it was a little off-putting. That being said, this podcast was almost entirely about working with MMA fighters, the weight cutting process, and how he got started. As an MMA fan, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
